RAPID PROGRESS

ANGLO-FRENCH CONFERENCE AT SINGAPORE. \ THE POSITION OF SIAM. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright SINGAPORE. June 24. The conference between the British and French -authorities continues to make rapid progress. Two main points decided within a few minutes at the first meeting were that Vice-Admiral Sir Percy Noble be commander of the Anglo-French forces, and that Singapore be the base from which all Far Eastern activities shall be directed. A problem which evoked long discussion was the position of Siam. It is understood that the conference was told that Siam was friendly, but wished to remain neutral, though she felt she would inevitably be forced to take sides if war broke out.
