The control of the extensive areas of trees planted by the Waimakariri River Trust is a question which is causing some concern, according to Mr W. P. Spencer. More than 2600 acres have been planted, and with the 150 acres to be planted during the present season the areas would provide a definite asset when the trees reach maturity, Mr Spencer said at a meeting of the trust. Arrangements were now in hand, he said, for the trust officers to collaborate with the Forestry Department in the erection of a look-out station at Halkett. In addition steps were being taken to have the planted areas included in the fire district.
