Mr R. S. Taylor has been re-elected president of the Canterbury Aero Club.
Mr W. W. Bird" has been appointed a member of the Music Teachers’ Registration Board. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, will return to Wellington from Taumarunui today. Mr S. Steel is an Auckland visitor to Masterton and is staying at the Empire Hotel. Mr R. Person, of New Plymouth, is on a visit to Masterton and is staying with Mr and Mrs L. Person. Lansdowne. A welcome was extended to Mr T. Hanley, the recently appointed representative on the Wairarapa College Board of Governors, at last night’s monthly meeting. Probate in two large estates was granted at Dunedin yesterday as follows:—Mr Charles W. Rattray, merchant, £50,000; Mr John Swan, retired, £20,000. Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr E. W. Renner, an ex-pupil of the College, who was killed in a motor cycle accident on Saturday last, was expressed at last night’s meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors. The condition of Mr John Morrison, of Blairlogie, who was seriously injured in an aeroplane crash at the Hood Aerodrome on Wednesday afternoon, shows little change. Mr F. McDonald, pilot-instructor of the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, is reported to be progressing favourably. The Rev. A. T. Thompson, Upper Plain, Masterton, and his daughter, Robina, will leave early next week for England, where they expect to remain for about 12 months. Mr Thompson has been in ill-health of recent months and this is the main reason for his trip home. While in England it is expected that final arrangements for publishing a book of poems he has written will be made.
