ROAD CYCLING
WAIRARAPA CLUB. NO RACE ON SATURDAY. The Wairarapa Amateur Cycling Club will not hold its usual weekly race on Saturday owing to the fact that a team of riders is journeying to Wellington in order to take part in the first of a series of three races conducted by the Wellington Centre, for the Hope Gibbons Shield. These races are held annually over a prearranged course of any three clubs affiliated to the Wellington Centre, the course being over a distance of 25 miles. Saturday’s race will be over the Poneke Club’s course from Kaiwarrawarra to Petone and return. The Wairarapa Club’s selector and handicapper, (Mr A. O’Donnell) has chosen the following riders to represent the club: —K. Woollett (team captain), R. Copp, G. Goodin, B. Dooling, M. Graham. Club members will wish their fellow cyclists every success. .
