RAILWAY FACILITIES
MEALS IN CANADIAN DINING CARS. MONTREAL. To accommodate dining-car patrons on the Canadian National Railways, the' officials of the railway company have to provide meals which are in keeping with the general excellence of the system. Indicating the high standard of these meals, the quantity of food used in 1938 in the dining cars to serve 860.090 meals included 55 tons of beef, 22 tons of chickens, 220 tons of potatoes. 50 000 heads of lettuce. 55.009 apples. 50,000 lemons and simi ■ lar quantities of other citrus fruits. 90,000 pints of milk. 40.000 pints of cream. 700,000 broad rolls. 146.000 loaves of bread, 58.000 pounds of butter and 7.000 pounds of cheese.
