ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening in the clubroom, Municipal Buildings, Mr A. G. Wiltshire, in the absence of the president, presiding over a satisfactory attendance. After the transaction of formal business, the secretary, Mr W. H. King, reviewed the contents of the last issue of the New Zealand Esperanto magazine, “La Interna Ideo,” published monthly at Wellington. Half an hour was then devoted to the revision of correlative words and prepositions. k In a brief talk, the secretary referred to the annual broadcast, on May 18 from the Welsh Regional Station, of a message of peace and goodwill from the children of Wales to the children of the whole world. This message is broadcast annually in the the principal languages, including Esperanto.

At, the conclusion of the conversational hour, a period given to the practice of Esperanto speaking, a short humorous sketch entitled “La Gatoj” (The Guests) was ably presented in Esperanto by Mrs E. J. Esler and Mr. W. J. Beresford, the dialogue having been specially written to assist students to acquire an extended vocabulary. The meeting concluded with the singing of the melody “Nun Venas la Hor (Now is the Hour).
