The Australian Rugby Union team of 29 players, who will sail next month for the tour of Britain, was announced tonight. Garrick; five-eighths, V. Richards and P. Collins: half-backs, E, Gibbon and C. Ramalli; breakaway forwards, B. Oxenham, B. Oxlade, J. McDonald and K. Windon; lock forwards, A. Hodgson and W. McLean; second row forwards, A. Monti, S. Bissett, K. Ramsay, and F. listrow; forwards, V. Wilson, G. Pearson, J. Malone and J. Turnbull; hookers, A. Stone and A. Barr. The average weight of the backs is 11.71, and the average age 231 years, and of the forwards, 14.111 and 24 years. For the team, the average weight is 12.101 and average age 23? years. GENERAL APPROVAL. I V. WILSON TO BE CAPTAIN. By' Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. V. Wilson will be captain and E. Gibbon vice-captain of the Australian Rugby football team to tour England. There is general approval by commentators of the selectors’ work, especially the policy of favouring young players. Carrick was a schoolboy player last year. The only surprises were the omission of W. Cerutti, D. Cowper and R. Kelly, and the inclusion of W. McLean (the Queensland forward). McLean’s father and brother both represented Australia at Rugby, Although no official designation has been given the team, it is taken for granted it will be called the Wallabies.
