WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ' At the last meeting of the Masterton West School Committee the chairman, Mr F. Shearer, extended a welcome to the new headmaster, Mr J. P. Farrell, and to a recently-elected member of the committee, Mr W. G. Baird. It was reported that shrubs had been planted in the school grounds, and sports gear purchased for the Side School. Linoleum, shelves and cupboards were still required for the latter school. A circular was received regarding visual aids to education. As it was considered that not sufficient data was given in the circular the secretary was instructed to write for further particulars. The headmaster. Mr Farrell, reported the roll number to be 34G. The attendance was good. It was decided to purchase some basketball balls, and votes of thanks were passed to Mrs Scharnwebber and Mr Tolhurst for the donation of plants.
The condition of the interior of the Side School, which the department proposed to alter in the near future was the subject of some discussion. Accounts totalling £36 10s 6d were passed.
