MINIATURE RIFLES MATCH CARTERTON v. MASTERTON. <“Times-Age” Special.) The following teams will represent Carterton against Masterton, at Carterton on Wednesday:—A team: R. Porter, R. Hawker, R. Taucher, L. A. De Lacey, Miss Fisher, D. Gayfer, S. Dwane, N. F. Teal, A. J. King, Geo Sewell. B. team: —Miss A. McPhee, J. Duffy, E. Jones, L. Chew, G. Goodin, C. De Lacey. PIPE BAND ST ANDREW SOCIETY CONCERT. A concert party from the Saint Andrew Society will visit Carterton on Tuesday evening to assist the Wairarapa Scottish Pipe Band in its efforts to raise money for the provision of uniforms. The band has arranged a concert and dance to be held that evening in the Masonic Hal, Carterton. It is expected that a number of Saint Andrew Society members will attend, with the double object of having an enjoyable evening, and assisting their society in the furtherance of its object—the promotion of things Scottish in the district. K Successful Breeder. Mr Geo Edge, of South Carterton, a breeder of Rhode Island Red poultry, was a successful exhibitor in the poultry section, Palmerston North Winter Show this week. He secured a first prize and three special awards and a second prize for Rhode Island Red Cockerels, and a first and two specials for Rhode Island pullets. He also received the Society’s rose bowl for best Red hen. During Mr Edge’s visit to the show he disposed of two cockerels from the New Zealand championship breed. Mr Edge, who is a keen poultry enthusiast is to be complimented upon his success especially as most of the best breeders in New Zealand were exhibiting. Personal Items. Mrs Kathleen Every, of Dunedin, is. at present staying with her cousin, Miss Marion Every, Garrison Street. Mr and Mrs R. H. Every, Garrison Street, left by aeroplane for Nelson on Thursday to attend the funeral of Mr Every’s mother. Mr H. H. L. Meyrick stationmaster at Carterton ,who has been on sick leave since the last week in February, and who has been an inmate of Braemar Hospital, Wanganui, for some time returned to Carterton yesterday. His many friends will be glad to know he is improving in health.
