FANCY DRESS DANCE

WAIRARAPA COLLEGE PUPILS. BRIGHT SCENE IN ASSEMBLY HALL. A bright, animated and colourful scene was presented in the Wairarapa College Assembly Hall last night when pupils in fancy dress graced the floor of the beautifully decorated ball. The college colours, with which the hall was ornamented, gave a pretty setting for the many attractive and excellent fancy dresses which were in evidence. As the pupils were present, in full force the task of the judges, Mrs G. G. Hancox and Mrs A. Owen Jones, was one of' some magnitude. The prize for the best fancy dress was awarded to K. Grey, who was a realistic "Cool-.” and the second prize was awarded to Evan Jaine for his impersonation of a “Cossack.” The award for the most original dress, "Lampshade" went to Margaret Blatchford and a special prize was given to Jocelyn Murdock, who was dressed as an “Old Lady.” Many of the staff’ members were also in fancy dress and a pfize given by the prefects was awarded to Mr G. G. Hancox, as “Mr Pickwick." Dancing and games were enjoyed by all, the music being played by Pool's Blue River Orchestra. The M.C. was f Mr R. C. Fowler, assisted by a commit- •- tee of College prefects. Ladies of the Parents’ Association committee served supper.
