IDEOLOGICAL BATTLE
JAPANESE WAR OFFICE DECLARATION ANTICIPATION OF YEARS OF WAR. STRUGGLE WITH POWERS HELPING CHINA. TOKIO, June 13. The War Office has issued a pamphlet stating that another two or three years will be necessary .to suppress the anti-Japanese armies in China, and that the entire nation must be placed on a footing to conduct a long-range war. It adds that Japan must simultaneously engage in an ideological battle with Russia and fight those third Powers which are assisting China by economic and diplomatic means.
JAPANESE ACTION BRITISH OFFICER ARRESTED BUT LATER RELEASED. PHOTOGRAPHY IN ALLEGEDLY PROHIBITED AREA. HONG KONG, June 14. The British United Press correspondent reports that the Japanese detained Major E. L. Law, of the Hong Kong Mule Corps, for allegedly taking films in a prohibited area. Major Law was later released after intervention by the British Consul. His camera was confiscated.
