WAR DANGERS

LORD GALWAY URGES PREPAREDNESS. IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL TRAINING. IBy Telegraph—Prgss Association.' AUCKLAND, June 13. The necessity for every man to be ready to answer the call to service was stressed by the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Galway, when praising the work of the officers and men of the Auckland Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve tonight, after making an inspection of the Division. About 140 members of the division paraded. Lord Galway said he wished to offer the division his cordial praise for the hard work they were putting into training in their spare time. Black and dangerous clouds overhung Europe, and it was essential that every man who was a real man at heart should be ready, if the call came to give his best where it would carry most weight. This was what the division was learning to do, so that, if members were needed by their country. they would be ready, a trained force of immediate usefulness. "I know from what I have seen and heard on all sides” said Lord Galway. “that New Zealand is as loyal to King and country as is any of the Dominions and, should it be necessary. New Zealand would go wholeheartedly to the help of the Mother Country: btif. it is of very greatest importance that New Zealanders should acquire the technical knowledge that is essential is modern warfare.” In these days, he continued, skill, brain, coolness and courage were all required in warfare. Of all things required. however, technical knowledge was most important, and this was what lhe division was learning.
