MOTOR RELICENSING

* NOW OVER 9,000 TRAILERS. The trailer as an adjunct to the motor-car is becoming extremely popular in the Dominion, and the number on the register of motor-vehicles at the end of March was 9.345. Trailers in use have to be relicensed in the same way as motor-vehicles and allotted one number plate on whiijh the initial letter "R” is prominent. Relicensing costs £1 for the vehicle, a shilling for the plate and 6s for third party insurance. The use of light trailers by farmers is growing, but by far the larger proportion comprise caravans for holiday touring. They predominate in the cities, for Christchurch has 1,755, and Auckland 1,498. Registrations in other centres include 973 at Hamilton, 793 at Wellington, 639 at Dunedin, 570 at Palmerston North, and 567 at Invercargill.
