AIRWAYS CONTROL

INTRODUCTION OF BRITISH BILL PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH CORPORATION. EXPANSION OF OVERSEAS SERVICES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 12. The British Overseas Airway Bill gives effect to the Government decision that a British overseas airways corporation should acquire and operate the Imperial Airways and British Airways undertakings. It is considered that such a public corporation can better advance aviation than a limited liability company, while the rapid expansion of overseas air services demands the pooling of experience, equipment, ground organisation and technical resources.

The corporation’s first duty will be the full development of overseas transport services at reasonable charges. The Bill provides a subsidy, payable until 1953, not exceeding four millions sterling annually, less £lOO.000 earmarked. until the end of 1943 for assistance to internal air lines.
