MINIATURE RIFLES CARTERTON TEAMS TO MEET GREYTOWN. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following team will represent Carterton in a match against Greytown on the Carterton range on Wednesday night:—A team: R. Porter, R. Taucher, N. F. Teal, R. Hawker, H. Torrey, A. J. King, Geo. Sewell. Miss Fisher, D. Gayfer, L. A. DeLacey. B team: Miss A. McPhee, S. Dwane, J. Duffy, E. Jones, L. Tunnicliffe. Emergency: A. Pinfold. Funeral of Mr J. Sage. There vzas a very large cortege at the funeral of the late Mr John Sage which took place at the Clareville Cemetery yesterday, thus showing the high esteem in which deceased was held by residents all over the Wairarapa. The service at the graveside was impressively conducted by the Rev. W. F. Stent, Vicar of St. Mark's Church of England. The Druids’ funeral service was read by D.P. Bro. A. Stretton, after which the brethren filed past the grave shaking hands across the grave as a last mark of respect to their deceased brother. The pall-bear-ers were all sons of the deceased, who are also all members of Totara Lodge. They were: Messrs Charles, John Percy. Alfred H. 0., Frank, William and Harold. Many beautiful wreaths covered the coffin and the top of the hearse. Personals. Mr A. Ingley, who has been laid aside with illness, left for the seaside at Waekanae on Saturday. He was accompanied by Mrs Ingley. Mr J. T. Bridge will leave tomorrow on a motor holiday to Whakatane and other northern towns. OBITUARY MRS CLARA ARMSTRONG. At Carterton this morning the death occurred of Mrs Clara Armstrong, relict of the late Ralph R. Armstrong, at the age of 80 years. The deceased had been ailing for a short period. Much sympathy will be felt for the two surviving daughters, Mrs Osborne of Hamilton, and Miss Doris Armstrong in their bereavement. Deceased was of a quiet and unassuming nature. She had many friends and took a great interest in chprch work. Mr Armstrong predeceased her seven years ago and since then four members of the family have died. GOLF MATCH CARTERTON v GREYTOWN. Carterton A team journeyed to Greytown to play a four-ball match with Greytown and were defeated in all games played. The following are the results, Carterton players mentioned first in each case:—Dudson and George lost to J. C. and H. W. Feast; Fisher and Steel lost to Ingley and Matheson; Brown and Hart lost to Nelson and C. Feast. Carterton B v Greytown played a singles match on the Taratahi links resulting in a win for Carterton. The scores were as follow, Carterton players mentioned first in each instance:— Clark lost to Gould; Riggs beat Carter; Shankland beat Tate; Colson beat McLeod; B. Beaven beat Ingley; Harrington beat A. Carter; Smart beat Williams; Dwane beat Sheddon. On the Taratahi links on Saturday members of Carterton Club played a medal round with the following results: —Hughes 75-14-61; Roydhouse 79-.13-66; Krahagen 86-20-66; F. Hill 88-20-68; W. Candy 88-18-70; Barr 91-20-71; S. Booth 96-24-72.
