All over 152 were eliminated. The leaders are Snead 139, Horton Smith 140, and Craig Wood 141. In the first round Von Nida took 79. with 44 for the second half. THREE PLAYERS TIE. PHILADELPHIA, June 11. Byron Nelson, Denny Shute and Craig Wood tied with scores of 284 in the national open golf tournament. They will play off'over 18 holes on Sunday. Von Nida, with 306, was hopelessly out of the running. NELSON & WOOD TIE AT EIGHTEENTH HOLE. SPECTATOR GETS KNOCK ON HEAD. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA June 11. In the national open golf championship, Nelson got a birdie four on the eighteenth, to tie with Wood, with a score of 68. They will meet again tomorrow. Shute was eliminated. His score was 76. Wood’s second shot at the final hole, which he started leading by a ’ stroke, struck a spectator on the head, knocking him unconscious and unnerving Wood.
