GERMAN TENDERS

REJECTION IN CAPE TOWN. AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. CAPE TOWN, June 10. A German plenipotentiary is directing the attention of newspapers and public bodies to a complaint he lodged with the Government against the Cape Town municipality’s rejecting German tenders for cables and copper wire, though they were considerably lower. The municipality, however, accepted British and Dutch tenders. He states that discrimination against German tenders seriously affects the exchange of goods, and asks the reason for the rejection of German tenders.

The chairman of the electricity committee states that the rejection was in accordance with the wish of the majority of the council, who, for obvious reasons, decided to give British and South African manufacturers ten per cent preference, even more if justi ■ fled. .
