PURSUANT to Section 54 of “The Rating Act. 1925," NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Masterton Borough Council will, at a Special Meeting to be hold in the Council Chamber, Chapel Street, on MONDAY, the 26th day of June. 1939, make and levy, under the Provisions of Sections 77, 82, 89 and 92 Of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1926,” Section 52 of "The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act. 1926.” Section 21 of “The Local Bodies Loans Act. 1926,” and all other Acts enabling it in that behalf, the following Rates for the period commencing the Ist day of April, 1939, and ending the 31st day of March, 1940, namely—(DA GENERAL RATE of 4.625 pence in the £. A SEPARATE LIBRARY RATE of .2d of Id in the £. A SPECIAL RIVER LOAN RATE of .25d of Id in the £. A SPECIAL NO. 1 CONVERSION LOAN RATE of 3.5 pence in the £. A SPECIAL DRAINAGE AND SEWERAGE REPAIR LOAN of .0625 of Id in the £. A SPECIAL RUAMAHANGA RIVER BRIDGE LOAN of ,02d of Id in the £. Upon the Unimproved Value of all rateable property within the Borough of Masterton. A HOSPITAL RATE of the sum of 51d in the £ upon the Annual Value bn all rateable property within the Borough of Masterton. A STREET LIGHTING RATE of the sum of 2.‘,d in the £ upon the Annual Value on all rateable property within the Borough of Masterton. ' A SEPARATE WATER SUPPLY RATE as follows: — (1) On all lands and DWELLINGS .within the Borough of Masterton to which water is supplied, a rate of 23 per cent on the Annual Value, with a minimum charge of TEN SHILLINGS. (2) On all lands and buildings used for any purpose other than a dwelling house, and on all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied, situate within 100 yards of any part ol the waterworks, a rate of onehalf of the rates above mentioned. A SPECIAL RATE of the sum of .18 of Id in the £ on all rateable property within the Special Area of the Borough of Masterton, as defined in the Special Order in that behalf, upon the Unimproved Value, for the purpose of providing Interest and Sinking Fund on the Drainage Loan Inscribed. A SPECIAL RATE of the sum of 4 pence in the £ on all rateable property within the Special Area of the Borough of Masterton (Lansdowne Special Area) as defined in the Special Order in that behalf, upon the Unimproved Value, for the purpose of providing Interest and Sinking Fund on the No. 2 Conversion Loan. A SPECIAL COLE STREET AND LINCOLN ROAD RATE of .06 of Id in the £. A SPECIAL NORTHERN APPROACH RATE of .09 of Id in the £. A SPECIAL INSCRIBED WATER RATE of ,25d of Id in the £. A SPECIAL NO. 3 CONVERSION RATE of .625 of Id in the £. on the Unimproved Value of all rateable property within the Borough of Masterton, SOUTH WARD, as defined in the Special Orders in that behalf. A SPECIAL FOOTPATHS RATE of ,08d of Id in the £ on the Unimproved Value of all rateable property within the Borough of Masterton (LANSDOWNE SPECIAL AREA) as defined in the Special Order in that behalf. (2) That of the following special rates only the amounts set out against them hereunder be collected in the rating period: — SPECIAL RIVER LOAN RATE. .2 of Id in the £. SPECIAL NO. 1 CONVERSION RATE, 2.975 pence in the £. SPECIAL COLE STREET & LINCOLN ROAD RATE, .02 of Id in the £. SPECIAL NO. 3 CONVERSION RATE, .425 of Id in the £. SPECIAL NORTHERN APPROACH RATE, .075 of Id in the £. (3) That the following Special Rates be not collected for the rating period:— SPECIAL INSCRIBED WATER RATE. SPECIAL FOOTPATHS RATE. (4) That the Interest, Sinking Fund and other charges on the following Special Loans be paid out of General Account: — DRAINAGE &z SEWERAGE REPAIR LOAN. RUAMAHANGA RIVER BRIDGE LOAN. SPECIAL INSCRIBED WATER LOAN. (5) That the following Rates be CONSOLIDATED for the purpose of collection under the provisions of Section 96 of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1933”:— . SOUTH RATING AREA: General, Library, Special River No. 1 Conversion, Cole Street anc Lincoln Road, Northern Approach and No.. 3 Conversion. LANSDOWNE: General, Library. Special River No. 1 Conversion and No. 3 Conversion. (6) That all the above rates be payable in one instalment on TUESDAY the Bth day of August, 1939. (7) That under the provisions of Section 64 (3) of "The Rating Act. 1925,” ; REBATE of 5 per cent be allowed of all rates if paid on or before THURS DAY, the 7th day of September, 1939 The Valuation Rolls are now open foi inspection at the Borough Council Office, Chapel Street, Masterton, during office hours.
