The New Zealand Racing Conference wrote stating that Racing Clubs came under the provisions of the Social Security Act. Members remarked that what with taxation on stakes, totalisator. and other charges in connection with a race meeting country clubs were being badly treated and if much more taxation were imposed it would be well nigh impossible for country clubs to continue. The position was becoming harder each year. After discussion it was decided that the club forward a remit to th£ Racing Conference asking that clubs be exempt from Social Security taxation, as clubs already had to pay heavy taxation and to impose an increase on clubs would be more than most clubs could bear. A protest, from end to end of New Zealand should be made by, racing clubs. The secretary of the New Zealand Country Racing Clubs’ Association wrote notifying that the annual conference would be held in Wellington on July 5. The president (Mr W. Howard Booth) was appointed the club’s representative at the conference. The secretary of the Racing Conference' wrote submitting the dates of race meetings.
