CENTRAL SCHOOL

BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. REPORT OF THE HEADMASTER. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Central School Committee was held last night. Mr. J. E. MeV. Calwell presiding over a full attendance of members. The Riverside Golf Club applied for permission to form a bunker on the East School ground, which was granted on condition that the club replace ?.;» soil and turf shifted and restore the ground to its original condition when requested. The chairman was deputed to interview the headmaster, and the care laker, if necessary, in regard to attending to the lighting and .care of the museum. The headmaster■ (Mr. E. G. Coddington) submitted a satisfactory report of attendance since the beginning of the term, showing the roll number at the Central School on June 2 at 519, average 489, percentage 94.2; and at the Side School, roll number 74, average 65.3, percentage 88. He aso stated that the total average for last term was 536.9 and the present total roll was 593. The headmaster reported that a very successful fancy dress party was held during the holidays, the funds going to the Parents’ Association for the purchase of visual educational apparatus in the future. He also reported that the Parents’ Association was holding a successful series of dances with the aforementioned object in view. t Mr. Coddington stated that the pre-' sent conditions at the Central School would not, he thought, justify permanent extra accommodation being required and that extra accommodation of only a temporary nature could be recommended at the present time. Messrs. Dixon, Cole and Wesney were appointed visiting members foi the ensuing month.
