FATAL INJURIES
POWER BOARD EMPLOYEE’S DEATH ACCIDENT NEAR PONGAROA. VICTIM FALLS TO GROUND AFTER ELECTROCUTION. (“Times-Ag°” Special.) Fatal injuries were .received by Mr. John White, aged about 26 years, when he came in contact yesterday afternoor with a power line near Pongaroa carrying 11,000 volts and fell to the ground. He was conveyed to the Pahi ■ atua Hospital where he died at an early hour this morning. Mr. White was employed by the Tararug Power Board and was engaged in extension work at a point about five miles from Pongaroa, where a new line is being put in to the Akitic county. It is not known how he made contact with the wire. Assistance was immediately forthcoming and the injured man was conveyed to hospital with all possible despatch. The late Mr. White, whose people reside at Hamua, had been an em ployee of the Tararua Board for some years. He had also worked for a period for the Dannevirke Power Board. II is stated that on a previous occasion about 18 months ago, he had the misfortune to receive a severe electric shock and was laid up in consequence for some months. He had lately been living in Pongaroa. An inquest will be held, probably al Pahiatua.
