MEETING OF COMMITTEE. NEW HEATING INSTALLATION. Mr H. E. Pither presided at the monthly meeting of the ’Lansdowne School Committee held last evening. There were also present: Messrs Dagg. Fly, Faulknor, Ross, Logan, McGregor, McFarlane and the headmaster, Mr J. Jones. Accounts amounting to £7 12s Bcl were passed. Messrs A. V. Faulknor and G. It was automatically controlled by thermostats in each room. The timing was so arranged that the power was cut off at 2 p.m. daily. In order to have the radiators available for evening functions the committee is arranging for alterations to be made so that in the future it will be possible to make the rooms quite comfortable on such occasions.

The headmaster reported the roll number to be 272. A class was opened at the hospital on May 22, in charge of Miss N. Allen. The number of pupils was 12. Steady progress was being made with the improvement of the grounds. The croquet and tennis courts had been top-dressed and resown. A summer house had been erected near the croquet pavilion. Authority for the putting down of a concrete path at the end of the school nearest the tennis courts had been granted. Several boxes of plants had been donated by Mr Sturgeon, the Park custodian. Another card tournament has been arranged by the Lansdowne School Parents’ Association, to be held in the school tomorrow evening. Several donations have been made for prizes, including two 251 b. bags of flour. A most enjoyable evening is assured those who attend.
