WEDDING

CUNNINGHAM—-LUCAS. Masess of beautiful hydrangeas in shades of light to dark green and graceful fern leaves made a perfect setting for the marriage of Jean Lucas, daughter of Mrs. P. Kummer ("Kummerstein”) to Geoffrey, only son of Mr and Mrs. F. A. Cunningham, of Dannevirke, at St. Matthew's Church yesterday afternoon. The Rev. C. L. Dobbs, of Tinui, performed the ceremony, and Mr. Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her step-father, Mr. Paul Kummer, looked charming in a beautiful cream satin gown brocaded with a tiqy gold thread and a small leaf pattern, and a full train. The tulle veile was caught into a top-knot of orchids. She carried a lovely bouquet of cream orchids, violets and freesias.

The bridesmaids, Misses Dina Isaacs (Auckland), Dorothy Todd (Masterton) and Joyce Kummer (Masterton) were gowned in cream slipper satin, of/Edwardian style, with long sleeves, full skirt and a corselette belt of violet toning. They carried shower bouquets of violets and freesias, with cream ostrich feather tips in their hair, presenting a charming effect. Mr. Ralph Caro, of Hamilton, was best man, and Messrs. Jack Reid (Masterton) and John Giblin (Dannevirke) were groomsmen. Messrs. Dick Armstrong and Norman Couper were ushers.

During the ceremony, Mr. Ron Gilbert gave a splendid rendering of the sacred solo, “Where e’er you Walk.” At the reception, which was held at the Masonic Hall, guests from all parts of New Zealand, numbering over one hundred and fifty, were received by the bride’s mother, Mrs. Paul Kummer, who wore a gown of blue sheen with cream lace and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of blue tonings. She was assisted by the ' bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Cunningham, who was attired in a wine-coloured gown embossed with touches of gold tissue over black satin, with hat to match, finished with an ostrich tip. She carried a bouquet of flowers of a wine shade.

When Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham left on their honeymoon, the bride was attired in a Venetian ensemble of sage green, trimmed with Persian lamb’s wool, with accessories to tone, and she wore a sage green toque. Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Cunningham will reside at Moera (Dannevirke).
