GIFT AFTERNOON

ST MATTHEW’S LADIES’ GUILD. A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The annual gift afternoon organised by St Matthew’s Ladies’ Guild, held yesterday in the Parish Hall, was a very happy and successful function. A bright programme was provided by Mesdames McMinn and Alexander and Miss B. Coleman and P. Thomas, Mrs Coleman playing the accompaniments.' An interesting competition, arranged by Mrs Judd, was won by Mrs Aikman. & Following upon a dainty afternoon tea served by Guild members, the president, Mrs E. J. Rich, announced that the next social afternoon would be marked by a sugar-bag competition, Guild members and friends being asked to make some article out of a sugarbag. A particularly interesting and instructive address was then given by Mrs Max Cleghorn, who spoke on educational institutions she had visited abroad.
