YOUNG CONDUCTOR
CLEVER YOUNG AUSTRALIAN. Young Charles Stanton, the band leader with the Young Australian Boys’ Band and Revue, was selected to lead the pageant which marched across the Sydney Harbour Bridge immediately Mir Jack Lang had cut the historical piece of ribbon at the official opening. This lad was thus the first citizen to cross that world famed structure. Then, again, he led the parade of the Duke of Gloucester’s official procession through Sydney, and he was personally congratulated by His Royal Highness on his smartness and military bearing. Charles Stanton was only eight years of age then! ' Since then he has visited South Africa, Rhodesia and London, and other overseas countries, and he will be seen in action when the Young Australians commence their revue and band season at the Opera House next Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10. He sings, dances, conducts the band, takes part in the sketches and plays the xylophone, and he is only one of the talented troupe of young performers. The Young Australians played a record season at Auckland recently, when huge audiences acclaimed their performance as one of the most brilliant and novel productions ever been seen there. They present a 2:; hour fast moving revue with pleasing music, attractive stage presentations and costumes which will delight both young and old. The admission prices are popular, and se.uts may be reserved at W. G. Perry’s. A matinee will be presented on Satit’.i'day at 2.15 p.m.
