The steamer Fotini Carras, of 446 tons, bound from New Caledonia to Bowen, struck the South Bellona Reef. 159 miles from New Caledonia. Distress messages stated that two holds are flooded and that the ship is five feet down by the head. The nearest ship is 350 miles away.
