Well-informed circles in London and Paris believe Marshal Gamelin s appointment is a prelude to his apment as Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Armies on the Western Front in the event of war. British military experts are convinced that Marshal Gamelin is the most suitable person to take charge of the Continent.
