KNOWN IN MELBOURNE
MAN ACCUSED OF ATTACK ON DUCHESS OF KENT SAILED FOR ENGLAND IN JANUARY. SAID TO BE SHELLSHOCK SUFFERER. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. SYDNEY, June 7. The Melbourne correspondent of the “Sydney Sun” reports that the man arrested in connection with the Duchess of Kent shooting affair is known to an Elsternwick suburban business man, Mr Melville Maxwell, who conducts a bicycle shop at which Lawlor purchased a bicycle last year, after which he sailed for England in January. Mr Maxwell said Lawlor was a mildmannered man, tall and heavily built. He served with an Australian machinegun company and since had suffered bad bouts of shellshock. While in Melbourne he did casual labouring work and did odd jobs. Military authorities here can find no trace in the records of an ex-Service man with Lawlor's Christian names.
