STABBING OF TAXIDRIVER

AUCKLAND SENSATION. TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Juno 6. Two youths, both 17 years of age, were arrested by detectives in Takapuna this afternoon in connection with the assault and stabbing of an Auckland taxidriver. Mr W. G. Stytants, while he was driving two passengers along the old Lake Road, Narrow Neck, at 8.45 p.m. last Friday. They ■will appear before a magistrate tomorrow.

Thirty stitches had to be inserted in the stab-wounds in the taxidriver’s back and neck by a doctor in Auckland hospital, where the- injured man was taken as soon as detectives had interviewed him. He has left hospital.
