ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening in the clubroom, Municipal Buildings, Mrs. J. McNab, vice-president, presiding over a satisfactory attendance. The secretary, Mr. W, H. King, conveyed the greetings of the Palmerston North and Auckland Esperanto clubs. The latter, he reported, had expanded to such an extent in recent months as to necessitate a new clubroom and a secant! meeting each week. Correspondence in Esperanto dealt with comprised a letter and postcards from Hungary, the official organ of Brazilian Esperantists and a similar publication of the International League of Esperantist Postal, Telegraph and Telephone Officers, with headquarters in France. In addition, a quarterly report from the International Esperanto League (London) was discussed. A short address entitled “Veturado inter Amikoj” (Travelling amid friends) was delivered by the secretary, who detailed his meeting with a number of Esperantists at Palmerston North, Auckland and Henderson during a recent trip to the north. Following a grammatical review of members' written work, further conversational practice under the direction of Mr. King was undertaken, a blackboard and large publicity posters being used to great advantage. An original sketch, "La Meblisto" (The Furnisher), was presented in Esperanto by Miss M. A. E. Admore and Mr. A. G. Wiltshire, the item proving to be both instructive and interesting. The meeting concluded with the singing of the melody "Nun. Venas la Hor” (Now Comes the Hour),-which has been adopted as the club’s closing theme song.
