The Guba left Port Hedland at 10.30 a.m. Greenwich“ Mean Time, and at 4.36 p.m. a radio from the flyingboat announced her position to be 530 nautical miles from Cocos Island. During the flight across Australia, which was made non-stop intense cold was experienced, the temperature falling well below zero. Turbulent air conditions were reported on the first part of the flight to Cocos Island, but later smooth air was experienced.
