WOMAN AWARDED £1250. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, June 2. Damages totalling £1250 were awarded, by a majority verdict of the jury in the Supreme Court, after four hours’ deliberation, to Catherine May Davis, widow, who sued York Hutchinson, Poverty Bay farmer, for £5OOO for alleged breach of contract to marry. Stay of execution was granted pending a motion for .a new trial. The possibility of appeal on a law point was mentioned by defendant’s counsel.
