GENERAL GAMELIN
VISIT TO GREAT BRITAIN LIST OF ENGAGEMENTS. ATTENDANCE AT ALDERSHOT TATTOO. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, June 2. The French Chief of Staff, General Gamelin, arrives in London on Tuesday on a four days’ visit. He will be met at Victoria Station by three Chiefs of Staff, the officer commanding the London district and General Lelong of the French Embassy. On Wednesday General Gamelin, accompanied by Field-Marshal Gort, is to visit the Royal Military College at Sandhurst and will witness a ceremonial parade. He will later visit the Staff College at Minley and after dinner at Government House, Aidershot, will attend the Aidershot Tattoo, where he will take the salute. Thursday’s engagements include a Government luncheon in London in his honour, and in the evening he will be received by the Duke of Gloucester and later will be the guest at a dinner at the House of Commons. It can be stated that, contrary to published reports, General Gamelin’s visit has no connection with the visit of Turkish military experts. The Turkish Mission, headed by General Kaiazim Orbay, is coming to London regarding purchases of war material.
