POPULAR WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES. LARGE AMOUNTS TAKEN UP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. No official information is yet available as to details of subscription to the Government’s £4,500,000 loan which closed on Wednesday. Inquiries in Wellington yesterday disclosed, however, that the following amounts, aggregating £522,000, had been taken up by the insurance companies indicated; — Australian Mutual Provident Society, £250,000. Temperance and General Mutual Life Society, £lOO,OOO. Colonial Mutual Life Assurance. Society of Australasia, Ltd., £52,000. National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, Ltd., £50,000. Mutual Life and Citizens Assurance Co, £50,000. North Island Motor Union Insurance Co., £20,000. It is understood that other financial institutions have also given generous support to the loan.
