NAPIER PARK RACING CLUB
TOMORROW'S RUNNERS REVIEWED
(By “CARBINE.”)
Light fields will contest the ursi day of the Napier Park Racing Club’s winter meeting which will be held at Greenmeadows tomorrow and Monday. Single pool betting will be in operation and the course is expected to be easy. MOTEA HACK HURDLE HANDICAP. One mile and a half. Buster Brown 10 1 Omarere 9 0 The Tramp ..9 4 Coil 9 0 Parry 9 2 Top-weight Buster Brown has not been running too well recently and may find that the company is too select. The Tramp is expected to give the, zither starters something to think about and is sure to go out well backed. Parry will be favoured by some as he ran a good race on the second day at Gisborne. Although Omarere has shown form over the battens that horse is a little too inexperienced yet but at the same time should be going well at the end of the journey. Those supported might be The Tramp. Parry. Buster Brown. MAIDEN SCURRY. Five furlongs. Colin Defray 8 7 Awhiorangi ..8 0 Final 8 7 Dark Water .80 Hyderabad .... 8 7 Julietta 8 0 Modern Way 8 7 Lord Midas ..8 0 Po Atarau .. 8 7 Madonna 8 0/ Whetu 8 7 Silver Court 8 0 Areas 8 0 Tashi Lama ..8 0 Whetu is a form horse, having been placed in the last two starts. The bracketed pair Po Atarau and Awhiorangi should run well, while at the weight Tashi Lama, Lord Midas and Madonna are likely to find favour. The best supported may include Whetu. Tashi Lama. Madonna.
MAREWA HANDICAP. One mile. Royal Spades 9 3 Lindrum 8 2 Birkology .... 9 2 Hunting Mint 8 0 Danc’gFlame 8 7 Arabic 8 0 The Ring 8 5 His splendid form at Gisborne will give Birkology a good following. Royal Spades, the top-weight, has not been displaying form worthy of much support. Dancing Flame ran third at Otaki. and will have a sporting chance. The Ring is another who will find favour and has been performing solidly for some time. An improver might be Lindrum. The public, however, might support Birkology. Dancing Flame. The Ring. NAPIER STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP. About two miles and a half. Prosy Boy .... 10 4 Wykemist 9 3 Rapa Waiata 911 Thrasher 9 0 Ct. Willonyx 910 Red Count .... 9 0 The manner in which Rapa Waiata has been running lately will probably
make him a hot favourite for this event; Prosy Boy and Wykcmist have been off the track for some little while and may not offer much opposition, but Count Willonyx will be a serious contender. He won the Wanganui Grandstand Steeplechase last winter. Another who vzill be with the pace makers is Thrasher who has scored a fourth and a second recently. Those in favour might be Rapa Waiata. Count Willonyx. Thrasher. LADIES’ HANDICAP. One mile and a quarter. Misurina 11 8 Ebb and Flow 10 7 Umpire 11 4 Laughing Miss Blue .... 10 9 Song 10 7 Inheritance .. 10 7 Miss Blue is the only starter in this event who has displayed recent form, but Misurina is always to be considered in this class. Of the others. Laughing Song is the only one who seems at all in form. Strong support may be given, therefore, to Miss Blue. Misurina. Laughing Song. FLYING HANDICAP. Six furlongs. Flammarion .. 9 3 Stitch 8 0 Okawa 812 Fossicker 8 0 Only four starters comprise the Flying Handicap, and of the sprinters entered Flammarion is the form horse and will probably go to the barrier a red hot favourite. This horse has been showing very consistent form. Okawa has also a second and a win in two starts and will be handy when the whips come out. Of the other two runners Fossicker might give the topweights trouble. Support may be forthcoming for Flammarion. Okawa. Fossicker.
MEANEE HACK HANDICAP. Six furlongs. Shin'g Hours 9 7 Le Toquet .... 8 8 Royal Spades 9 5 Gay Laura .. 8 6 Hunter’s Eve 9 2 Gay Hunting 8 0 Screen Lord 9 0 Greenore 8 0 Golden Flame 811 Hunting Royal 8 0 Gold Ballad ..8 9 Plenteous 8 0 Shining Hour is carrying a big weight in the Meanee Hack. This mare has not raced since the spring so she may find the going hard towards the post. Royal Spades is another who appears to be carrying a good deal of weight. Hunter’s Eve at the weight looks like a prospect and if away early might take some stopping. Screen Lad is the consistent horse of the field and is reported to have been working well. Golden Flame looks the best of the rest and has a win and a fourth in the last two starts. Plenteous scored a win at Poverty Bay and is expected to be handy. Horses in form are Hunter’s Eve. Plenteous. Screen Lad.
