HOW TO KEEP FIT
FAY WRAY’S RULES. “How,” it was asked, “do you do it?” “It” in this instance was the whirl of activity Fay Wray contrives to get through in every twenty-four hours. Fay, as most everyone knows, is one of Hollywood’s busiest young women, both oxx the screen and off. She plays a triple role in real life—actress, wife and mother. Each “part” demands enormous time and energy. In acting alone she once achieved the record of appearing in twelve pictures in as many months—and the pictures were big ones, with Fay as lead. When questioned *he actress had just arrived from “Smashing the Spy Ring,” a timely drama with Ralph Bellamy in the male lead. The manner of Fay’s arrival hinted of the tempo of her daily life. She had flown in from New York, abruptly ending a quick shopping tour which had started right after finishing a picture in Hollywood. Explaining why she so seldom needs a regular vacation Fay said: “I have followed the same routine for years. After making my first few pictures I realised that acting was hard work —not so hard if one did nothing else, but too demanding if one everhoped to have a home life also. So I worked out a set of seven rules. They might not as they stand mean much to anyone else, but they have a special significance fox- me, and I try to follow them even when resting:— “1. No smoking. “2. No drinking. “3. Stop whatever you are doing before you tire. • “4. No temperamental outbursts — they wear- one out. “5. Exercise need not be regular, but should always take the form of some sport that stimulates at the present. In short, play for fun. “8. Eat exactly what you like as long as it agrees with you, and don’t consume too much. “Relax completely —about twice daily for fifteen-minute periods.” '
