Rain had fallen heavily all day, and in several places the roads were under water. Coming to what looked like a small lake, a motorist stopped and asked an old countryman, who was gazing into the depths, if it was safe,to venture farther. “Weel, ye’ll be mebbe a’ richt, maister, if ye follow they bubbles. That’s the doctor just gaun through in his motor car.”
