LEVEL CROSSING SMASH

FATALITY AT PARAPARAUMU. FARMER DIES FROM INJURIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PARAPARAUMU, May 31. The railway crossing on the section of road a few chains to the north of Paraparaumu railway station and leading from the township to the main highway was the scene of another accident at about 8.30 o’clock this morning, when the Limited express, southbound from Auckland, collided with a car driven by Mr W. McD. Clunie, who was so seriously injured that he died before he could be removed to hospital. Mr Clunie, who had been attending to some business in the township, was driving his car at a slow pace over the crossing when he was overtaken by the express. The train struck the back part of the car and Mr Clunie was hurled violently to the road, landing on his head some distance away, and being very severely injured.
