FEATHERSTON

WAIRARAPA LAKE DOMAIN ANNUAL MEETING OF BOARD. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Lake Domain Board, Mr. J. W. Card presided. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. W. A. Tate (Greytown) and J. Blain (Featherston). The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The chairman reported that Mr. G. W. Benton had been appointed ranger during the year. The action of the chairman in making the appointment was confirmed. Mention was made of one or two instances of gravel being taken from the reserve, and the ranger is to be instructed to see that no gravel is remover, as the removal of gravel is absolutely prohibited. The following is the report for the year ended March ’3l, 1938: —During the year all buildings received attention, and the necessary repairs were carried out. A bad washout occurred in the road and had to receive attention. Over 150 willow trees were planted, but unfortunately most of them died, which probably can be accounted for by the bad seasonable conditions. All the trees in the plantation received attention and are doing well. All the fences were inspected and repaired where necessary. During the summer months a fire damaged a large area of flax and 'cabbage trees. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed that the year started with a credit balahce of £33 14s Id and finished with a credit balance of £3O 7s 9d. QUEEN CARNIVAL POSITION OF CANDIDATES.
