DEFENCE ENROLMENT
R.S.A. SUPPORTS PREMIER’S APPEAL. ‘ ENCOURAGEMENT FOR YOUNGER MEN. (By Telegranh—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association met last night and passed a resolution supporting the Prime Minister’s appeal for recruits to the Defence Forces. Members stressed the fact that the association had each year passed a resolution urging the need for adequate defence and consequently it was gratifying to learn that the Govern • ment had taken action. The- resolution stated that while it was realised that volunteering was a matter for the individual, the executive urged all ex-Service men to sunport the association by responding to the appeal, and pointed out that the training and experience of returned soldiers would encourage the service I of younger men, who were just as : anxious as returned soldiers for an adequate defence. Enrolment, one member said, would give returned men a chance to become real “Diggers” once more.
A scandal is something that has to be bad to be good. We learn that a racehorse has been named Club Member. It is to be hoped it won’t be disqualified for boring.
