WEDDING

KEIR—SHAW. A wedding of considerable local interest took place at Masteyton on Saturday afternoon when Lona Margaret, only daughter of Mr and Mrs James Shaw, of Masterton, was married to Alan Hamblyn, only sop of Mr and Mrs A. Keir, also of Masterton. ceremony was conducted in Knox Church, the officiating minister being lhe Rev J. Davie, and the organist Mr C. W. Kerry. During the signing of the register Mrs J. H. Fieldhouse, of Napier, sang “Praise.” The bride, who Was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful frock of pale cream satin, the long sweeping train edged with accordion pleating, the pleating continuing up the panelled skirt to just below the waist. The bodice was prettily rucked at the shoulders and gathered into the pointed panel of lhe skirt. The sleeves were full puffed to the elbow and finished with a point over the hand.,The long Brussels net veil, which was lent by a friend, was gathered .on to a halo of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies, roses, white chrysanthemums and maiden-hair fern.

Mrs Cyril Goodrick and Miss Edna Goodrick, both of Hastings, were matron of honour and bridesmaid, respectively. They were frocked alike in pink embossed lace patterned taffetas made in Edwardian style, the crossover bodices continuing around to tie at the back. The neck line was finished with accordion pleating and the Jong bouffant sleeves were gathered into woodland green velvet shoulder straps. The very full skirts tipped the ground. They wore pink crinoline hats turned up at one side and finished with a green velvet bow. They carried Victorian posies to tone. Mr D. J. Cooper, of Auckland, was best man- and Mr R. Gorringe was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs Rex Shaw and Roy Shaw.

After the ceremony Mr and Mrs Shaw entertained the guests, which included visitors from Hawke’s Bay, Feilding, Wellington, Auckland, and Manawatu, in the Masonic Hall. Mrs Shaw received the guests wearing Wedgewood blue wool georgette finished with white lace front. Over the frock was worn a waist-length cape and she wore a veiled hat to tone. Mrs Keir, who assisted her, wore a navy blue frock with accessories to tone.

During the reception Mrs Fieldhouse rendered two more songs. The floral decorations, both in the church and in the hall, were the work of Mrs Eric Shaw, assisted by Mrs Cyril Goodrick and Miss Joan Andrews. When the bride loft on the honeymoon she wore a rust ensemble with hat, gloves and bag to match.
