RESENTED AS SLUR
AMERICAN REPORTS OF ROYAL VISIT ALLEGED USE IN QUEBEC OF BULLET-PROOF CAR. DENOUNCED AS ABSOLUTE FALSEHOOD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (■Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) MONTREAL, May 30. Protesting that certain references to the Royal visit cast slurs on Quebec, Ihe civic leaders are urging the Government to bar from Canada the United States magazines “Time” and “Life,” which reported that: “The King, unlike in ‘British Ottawa,’ rode in a bullet-proof glass car in Quebec.” The Mayor (Mr Camile Houde) declared that the statement was an absolute falsehood. French Canadian loyalty, he said, was above reproach. He advocated asking the Government to make representations to Washington.
