BIG SURPRISES
HUNGARIAN ELECTIONS NAZIS GAIN MANY VOTES IN CITIES. NUMEROUS SECOND POLLS i NECESSARY. (Independent Cable Service.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) BUDAPEST, May 30. The elections provided big surprises. The Christian Social Party was almost eliminated, while the Small Farmers, who were well represented in the last Parliament, lost heavily. The Nazis made tremendous headway in a majority of the big towns and a second poll must be held in many districts to decide between Government and Nazi candidates.
The latest returns give the Government 118 seats, the Nazis 39 t the small farmers 7, Democrats 5, and Social Democrats 5.
