DANGER TO AIRCRAFT

OVERHEAD ELECTRIC POWER LINES. AREAS NEAR AERODROMES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The attention of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board was directed at its meeting yesterday by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon R. Semple., in a letter, to the danger resulting from the existence of overhead electric lines in areas close to aerodromes during conditions of low visibility. As a step towards the removal of this danger it is desired that plans showing the location of every electric line proposed to be constructed or reconstructed within a radius of .one mile from the boundaries of any aerodrome or definitely-proposed aerodrome should be submitted to the aerodrome branch of the Public Works Department, which would make a recommendation as to whether that particular line may be constructed as an overhead electric line or whether it should be required to be carried underground, stated the letter.
