WELCOMED HOME

MRS C. M. WRIGHT. ENJOYABLE SOCIAL GATHERING. A most enjoyable time was spent in the Oak Room at Messrs Hugo and Shearer’s premises yesterday afternoon, when Mrs J. M. Simpson entertained a large number of friends to welcome home her daughter, Mrs C. Wright, who has been on - a visit to America where she and her son were the guests of Mrs Wright’s brothers Dr Reuben L. McMaster and Mr Tom McMaster, who are well-known in Mastertom Mrs Simpson was assisted by her two daughters, Mrs Wright and Miss C. McMaster. After a dainty afternoon tea had been partaken of, Mrs-Simpson expressed her pleasure at seeing so many old friends present, and said that with only two exceptions, all'who were at her daughter’s farewell party ten months ago were present at her welcome home. Mrs Wright gave a most interesting description of ner trip through America, and Mexico. The wish was expressed, by those present that Mrs Wright would favour them with a further talk on America on some future occasion. During the afternoon, Mrs J. L. Murray presented the guest of honour with a posy, and Mrs Nellie Miller presented Mrs Simpson with a bouquet. Miss Molly Nee played a piano solo, which was much appreciated. A most happy gathering terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.’ Those present were Mesdames J. M. Simpson, Calvert Simpson, J. L. Murray, Nellie Miller, W. H. Saunders, H. Nee, T. Chamberlain, E. J. Brown, B. Iveson, G. Holmes, E. A. Staniforth, N. H. Prior. W. Shaw, C. McClymont, E. J. Rich, G. Milne, L. T. Blatchford, C. Wright, McEwen, V. Joseph, Nurse Spellman and Misses N. Williams, M. Brown, M. A. Brown, Jessie Hogg, Fay Hogg. M. McClymont, C. McMaster, E. Ibbetson and M. Nee. Mrs Rich in a very happy speech on behalf of those present expressed thanks to Mrs Simpson and her daughters for a most delightful afternoon.
