WORLD’S OLDEST PAPER

SUPPRESSED BY JAPANESE. It is sad news to hear from China that the Peiping Bao has been suppressed by the Japanese, for it has been appearing for 1500 years, and was the oldest newspaper in the world. Founded in 4000 A.D. by SouChcung, this paper must have had an exciting life through the centuries, for at least 15 of its editors are known to have been beheaded. One of the first things the Japanese did when they occupied Peking was to ban the Peiping Bao.
