STEPNEY TENANTS

RESISTANCE TO INCREASED RENTS. PREPARATION FOR BATTLE WITH BAILIFFS. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, May 29. Three hundred tenants of the Stepney districts of London, who are striking against increased rents and ejectment orders, are preparing to resist the bailiffs. They erected barbed wire barricades but they were able to open these today to enjoy a holiday because the bailiffs' are only able to carry out evictions on legal working days. Stacks of soot and flour bombs have been left on balconies and hoses are connected to hydrants ready for tomorrow, when the bailiffs are expected to resume their attempt to carry out the Court orders.
