The naval correspondent of the “Daily Express” says that the Government has promised Australia and New Zealand to provide an adequate battle fleet in the Far East if Japan finally joins the axis Powers. b The position, says the writer, was extensively reviewed at the recent Pacific Conference in New Zealand, after which trie Government decided to keep the battleships of the Royal Sovereign class whicri were to’ have been scrapped in 1941 when the King George V. class was commissioned) The latter type, however, will not be sent to the East.
