MASSEY COLLEGE
SHEEP FARMERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. LECTURES & DEMONSTRATIONS. The eighth annual meeting of sheep farmers at Massey College, Palmerston North, will be held on June 7, 8 and 9. A concession in the admission fee has been granted to members of Young Farmers’ Clubs and students of the college will be admitted free. The admission fee is being charged in order to finance the publishing of the proceedings. A comprehensive programme of lectures has been arranged by members of the college, Departmental officials and others. The subjects to be dealt with cover many problems associated with farming practice. A demonstration of the Cambridge block test for judging fat lambs will be given at the Longburn Freezing Works on the afternoon of June 8. Carcases for this demonstration have been specially selected during the killing season and have been held in cold storage. Dr. C. P. McMeekan, who is to demonstrate, has recently returned from Cambridge, where, amongst other things, he has been studying quality in meat for 2| years. The block test for judging lambs has been worked out by Dr. Hammond, of Cambridge University, in conjunction with Smithfield.
