ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS.

LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows was held last night, Bro A. R. Tankersley, N.G., presiding. Sick pay amounting to £l2 IGs 8d was passed for payment. The secretary was authorised to write thanking the Sister Wallis Lodge for the invitation to a social evening on Saturday. June 24, and to state that the lodge would be represented. It was decided to write thanking Loyal Combination Lodge, Johnsonville, for an invitation to the birthday social on Tuesday, June 6. If possible the lodge will be represented. The election of officers resulted as follows:—N.G., P.G. Bro C. E. White; V.G., Bro A. J. King; Warden, Sister Freda Eagle; Guardian, P.G. Bro H. J. Rathbone; E.S., P.G. Bro G. S. Bruce; Conductor, P.G. Bro W. J. Wilkins. It was decided to invite P.G’s., Bro R. Farrow (Eketahiina) and R. Baikie (Masterton), members of the District Management Committee, to the next lodge meeting, and also to request the Loyal Masterton and Eketahuna members to accompany these visitors. It was resolved that the installation of .officers take place next meeting night. The retiring 1.P.N.G., Bro W. J. Wilkins, was thanked for his services while passing through the chairs of the lodge. He is to be presented with the Lodge Diploma. LADIES’ GOLF. CARTERTON TEAM TO PLAY FEATHERSTON. Carterton will be represented by the following ladies in a match against the Featherston ladies at Featherston on Thursday next: —Miss M.' Campbell, Mrs Colson, Mrs Murray, Mrs Moroney, Miss N. Renall, Miss T. Anderson, Mrs Riggs, Miss P. Renall. Mrs Robinson. Mrs Campbell, Miss F. Steven. ANNUAL BALL. W.D.F.U. AND YOUNG FARMERS. There was a very large attendance at the King’s Theatre, Carterton, last evening, the occasion being the annual ball of the W.D.F.U. and Young Farmers’ Club. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion and dancing was kept going merrily on a well prepared floor to excellent music supplied by Tom Udy’s Dance Band of eight instruments. Dance extras were played by Miss Warrington and Messrs. D. Irwin and T. Udy. The supper, presided over by a strong ladies’ committee, was a feature of the gathering. The ball can be considered to have been the most successful held under the auspices of the executive of both bodies and they must feel very gratified with the financial as well as the social result.

ACCIDENT TO MOTOR LORRY. DRIVER SENT TO HOSPITAL. An accident which might have been attended by more serious occurred at 9.30 o'clock last night when a lorry used for carting milk to Wellington was travelling down Moreton Road. It is understood that the driver picked up several young people at South Carterton. and when going down the road got into loose metal with the result that he lost control of the lorry which went off the road into a shallow ditch and crashed, breaking both lamps, the bonnet of the lorry and the left hand side door, while the mudguards were more or less damaged. The glass of the cab was splintered. The driver was Walter Hosking, of Johnsonville, aged 15 years. He was badly cut on one leg and was attended by Dr. Campbell and sent to the Greytowwn Hospital. The other occupants of the lorry were bruised and shaken. Personal. Mrs Rita Goodin and her daughter, of To KauWhata, Waikato, are visitors to Carterton and are the guests of Mr and Mrs R. J. Grimmer. f Mr and Mrs Hadfield, of Hamilton, will shortly leave Hamilton to reside in the Carterton district. Mrs Hadfield was formerly Miss Mavis Stevens. Obituary. The death occurred this morning’ at his parent’s residence. High Street, of George Thomas Thompson, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thompson, at the age of 17 years. The deceased had been a sufferer for some considerable time. The sympathy of a large circle of relatives and friends will be extended to the bereaved parents. The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock, leaving after a short service conducted at the residence by the Rev. H. White, for the Clarevillc Cemetery.
